Fill the base with hot (not cold) water up to the safety valve.

Steps

  1. Fill the base with hot (not cold) water up to the safety valve.
  2. Fill the basket with coffee, level it off — never tamp.
  3. Assemble and place on low heat with the lid open.
  4. When the flow turns pale and starts to sputter, take it off the heat and serve.

Tips

  • Starting with hot water keeps the grounds from cooking while the pot heats up.
  • Rinse with warm water only, no soap — and dry fully before storing.

Why Moka Pot Has No Universal Ratio
